Import excel to Sharepoint list

When you want to create a Sharepoint list based on existing data, Excel is an easy way to do this. The steps to take are the following:

  • Open the page http://<sitename>/_layouts/1033/create.aspx
  • Choose the option 'Import Spreadsheet' at the 'Custom Lists' section
  • Next you can fill out the name and description and browse to the excel sheet
  • Click on the import button
  • In the dialog window you must choose the range to import
  • Click on import again and the excel with data is imported
